Indian mehndi uses fine designs of paisley, floral and lacy
patterns. Most of these patterns are derived from simple geometrical shapes and
might be accented with swirls and vines. Indian mehndi, because of its
intricacy, can take more time to both draw and dry than other types of mehndi
for hands.
Arabic
Mehndi Designs
Arabic mehndi often uses large floral patterns. These
designs might include flowers, stems and petals. Arabic mehndi is more commonly
used because of its time-saving techniques. Additionally, the mehndi paste is
thicker, which makes the color darker.
11 Secret Techniques To Improve Mehndi Design
1.
Get a good quality cone. If the mehndi is pure, it will
work! Beautiful mehndi designs should last longer!! Invest in a good quality
cone. Hyderabadi mehndi is world famous for its dark color, smell and longer
lasting mehndi color. If you can, grab those ‘green’ cones from Hyderabad. Do

2.
After applying the mehndi design on your hands, let it
dry. Make it dry enough so that when you touch it, it doesn’t stick to your
hands and it doesn’t spread. Now in a bowl, make a mixture of sugar and lemon
juice. With the same lemon dab the juice over the mehndi design. Once this
juice is dried, it will almost glue the mehndi design to your skin – allowing
your skin to absorb all the good color. You can reapply the juice 2-3 times
overnight. Next morning, scrap off the mehndi!
3.
Use baby oil to scrub off the mehndi instead of washing
it with water or soap. Washing with water usually washes of all the coloring
particles and hinders further coloring of the mehndi. Baby oil or any other oil
is a good option. Just apply it on the dried mehndi, use a thick card to gently
scrape the mehndi design from your hands.
4.
The color of your mehndi gradually darkens over the
next day. It is better not to use soap for the next 12hrs – if you must wash –
apply oil over the design and quickly wash. Also, henna darkens as it is
exposed to air.
5.
Apply mustard oil after you apply mehandi. It is a
great color stimulant.
6.
Heat a pan and put few cloves on it. then warm your
hands in the steam that comes off the pan.
7.
When choosing a mehndi design, select a design which has
both thick and thin lines. Thicker lines usually result in a darker shade and
thinner lines act as a filler or give emphasis on the main design. Check out
